- Immerse yourself in nature and embark on a sugar glider’s journey to save its family.
- Soar across misty chasms, leap from tree to tree, and climb to the top of the forest canopy.
- Beware of the dangerous creatures that roam these untamed lands.
Ever wondered what it would be like to explore nature as a small animal? We wondered that too, so five years ago we set out to make an adventure game where you play as a tiny sugar glider. It’s been a long time in the making, but as we approach the game’s release, we’re excited to announce that Away: The Survival Series will be coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility in 2021!
Inspired by nature documentaries, Away takes you on a sugar glider’s journey into the wild to save its family. Soar across misty chasms, leap from tree to tree, and climb to the top of the forest canopy, all while a narrator describes your every move. That’s the beauty of playing as a sugar glider: you can explore your surroundings in any way you like!
Immerse Yourself in Nature
As you venture deeper into the wild, your adventures will immerse you in beautiful environments, each with their own unique ecosystems. Whether you’re gliding through the forest, exploring an underground cavern, or sneaking through the swamp, you can interact with plants, insects, and animals of all shapes and sizes.
That said, some animals are more dangerous than others. Sitting near the bottom of the food chain, you must rely on the sugar glider’s agility and stealth to avoid becoming your predators’ next meal. In some cases, though, you may have no choice but to face enemies head-on and put the sugar glider’s fighting skills to the test. Whatever the situation calls for, you will have to think on your feet as you encounter new creatures in the wild.
Play Your Own Nature Documentary
One of our priorities when developing Away was to capture the “nature documentary” feel, and a big part of that was setting the right atmosphere through the game’s music and sound design. That’s why we partnered with Mike Raznick, composer on BBC’s “Life”and “Planet Earth II”documentaries, to create an enchanting orchestral soundtrack for our game. Recorded with a live 40-string orchestra, Away‘s musical score brings your adventures to life and immerses you in nature like never before.
Coming Soon to Xbox
After 5 years of development, we are excited to be bringing Away: The Survival Series to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility. Releasing later this year, we can’t wait to get the game in your hands so you can experience life as a sugar glider from the comfort of your living room!
