Activision slams Black Ops 2 death threats – “this is why gamers are assumed to be immature, whiny assholes”

Activision’s community manager Dan Amrich has posted a withering piece on last night’s outbreak of fan threats in response to a Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 update. It contains such seemingly common-sensical observations as: wishing death on people because they’ve rebalanced your favourite Call of Duty gun is just a tad bit disproportionate.

Microsoft confirms UK first-party Xbox One game prices

RRP set at £50.

Microsoft has confirmed recommended retail pricing for Xbox One games in the UK. The manufacturer’s online store currently has Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5 and Kinect Sport Rivals down at £49.99 – more or less in line with the RRP for Xbox 360 titles.

Lawsuit Awards $11 Million to Original Madden Programmer

A verdict has been reached in the lawsuit between original Madden programmer Robin Antonick and EA, awarding Antonick more than $11 million in damages. The verdict also opens the door for Antonick to pursue the same claims against EA for games released after 1996, where revenues exceed $3 billion.

Antonick developed the first Madden title in 1988 for MS-DOS, Commodore, and Apple II platforms. In 2011, he sued EA for millions of dollars of unpaid royalties, claiming that the contract he signed with the publisher in 1986 stipulated he should be paid royalties not only for the games he developed, but any derivative works.
